Tsyrlin String Orchestra

For junior to intermediate-levelled musicians who want a challenge and to build confidence, the Tsyrlin String Orchestra is the ideal ensemble. In a week of fun and intense music-making, you will be able to relish in preparing exciting repertoire alongside new muso friends, and develop the necessary skills for good instrumental and ensemble playing.

Kat completed her Bachelor of Music Performance in Violin at the Victorian College of the Arts and a Master of Music Studies at the University of Melbourne.
She is a freelance violinist and has premiered many solo and chamber ensemble works by Australian composers on both violin and viola for groups including the Melbourne Composers League, Forest Collective, Allotropy String Quartet, Opera Scholars Australia, Zelman Orchestra and the New York Tropfest Film Festival. Kat is a frequent recording artist, and has toured Italy, Austria, Czech Republic and China. She often performs as concertmaster, principal violin or viola with Peninsula Chamber Musicians in their chamber series and orchestra series, Art of Sound Orchestra, Australian Discovery Orchestra, Melbourne Musicians, Yarra Philharmonic, the Australian Composers Orchestra and tutti violin with Melbourne Opera. Kat also enjoys working as a Strings Coordinator of the Strings Faculty at MLC in Kew since 2022, and previously at Blackburn High School. She has formed, directed, and supported many school string ensembles from beginners to advanced ranging in age from early primary to Year 12.
