The Summer School Oswell String Ensemble is an ideal first ensemble experience for young string players, and for those who want to build their confidence surrounded by new friends.
This is a unique program, unlike any other in Victoria, where our team of tutors work all week with their section and lead daily tutorial sessions, giving each student individual attention and support.
In addition to ensemble participation, students will attend a range of voice, rhythm and games workshops to encourage the creative, social and fun aspects of music. Above all, the Oswell String Ensemble is a great way to make new friends from all over Victoria.

Violinists and viola players will be expected to use 4th finger. Some experience with basic shifting to harmonics and exposure to 3rd positions is required.
With a range of bowing styles and articulations e.g. legato, detache, staccato, retakes as well as right and left hand pizzicato.
Importantly all students are required to possess music reading skills that support the above technical and musical parameters.
AMEB levels indicated are not a formal requirement, but are provided as a guide to the skills required.
