Warta-Kiki (Come Together) – Limited Edition Vinyl Available Now
A landmark collaboration between legendary songman Kutcha Edwards and the Melbourne Youth Orchestra is available now, with the release of Warta-Kiki (Come Together) on ABC Classic and across streaming platforms. A strictly limited-edition vinyl pressing is also available.
Warta-Kiki captures a powerful orchestral reimagining of Kutcha Edwards’ songs, first presented in a live performance in June 2023. Bringing together First Nations Songlines and symphonic music, the project features more than eighty of MYO’s young musicians under the direction of Music Director Brett Kelly, with new orchestrations by leading Australian composers.
For Kutcha Edwards, the collaboration represents an unexpected and deeply resonant chapter.
“In my sixty cycles around the sun, I had never attended an orchestral concert, let alone contemplated recording an album with an orchestra — until now. Warta-Kiki… is proof that perceptions can change.”
Developed in close creative partnership, the album reflects a shared commitment to storytelling, cultural exchange and musical excellence.
“This was an opportunity for me to share the depth of the Songline within each song,” Edwards says. “It’s the passing of knowledge that is important to me — the ripple that continues with the young ones.”
Recorded at ABC Studios in Southbank, Melbourne, Warta-Kiki is available across digital platforms, and now released as a limited vinyl edition, produced with the support of Creative Victoria.
