Join Melbourne Youth Wind Symphony and play in a band where everyone is committed to their musical education and enjoys making music together

The award-winning Melbourne Youth Wind Symphony is considered as one of the best concert bands in Victoria and brings together the finest young wind, brass and percussion musicians from across the state.

Led by conductor Rick Keenan, this is ensemble learning in the fast lane. Musicians will be challenged with advanced and varied musical repertoire, meeting like-minded peers who enjoy making music together.

– Build and develop leadership qualities and sectional work and solidify your core ensemble skills;
– Expand your knowledge of symphonic wind band repertoire;
– Learn to interpret and understand music to an advanced level;
– Learn to develop and vary your personal tone and sound, balancing within a complete wind ensemble.


Approximate standard: AMEB Grade 6+ or equivalent
Approximate age range: 12 – 20
Rehearsals: Saturday 1:30pm – 5:00pm
Instruments: Flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, french horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, percussion
