Bonnici String Orchestra

The Bonnici String Orchestra is perfect for intermediate-levelled string musicians to experience the joy of ensemble music. Conducted by Olivier Bonnici, you will have the opportunity to enhance your instrumental and ensemble playing alongside like-minded peers through a week of intense but inspiring rehearsals and tutorials, in preparation for a final performance at the end of Summer School.

Olivier studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon (France), before furthering his studies at Dame Kato Havas’ Studio in Oxford (U.K.). He later became an Associate of …
Olivier studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon (France), before furthering his studies at Dame Kato Havas’ Studio in Oxford (U.K.). He later became an Associate of the Royal College of Music (London) in Performing.
Having taught from age 15, he pursued a teaching career whilst keeping up the performing side of his life, leading Stowe Opera Orchestra, Bampton Opera and The Musicians of the Dreaming Spires chamber orchestra for many years, alongside numerous recitals and appearances as soloist for most of the violin concerti of the repertoire.
He was Head of Strings at Headington School, Oxford, for 18 years, before emigrating to Australia. After 4 years as Head of Strings at Christian College, Geelong, he was appointed Head of Strings at PLC Melbourne 3 years ago.
Olivier was an examiner for ABRSM for 11 years and also recorded the world famous Fiddle Time/Viola Time Series for Oxford University Press.
