Parks Symphonic Band

Beginner musicians are invited to join the Parks Symphonic Band with conductor Ryan Parks.

This will be an opportunity to focus on music written specifically for beginner symphonic band, develop critical ensemble skills, teamwork, communication and creativity, and improve sight-reading through a series of rehearsals and workshops.

Thanks to the support of Melbourne’s best band tutors and music educators, participants will sit alongside musicians of a similar standard, develop rhythmic and technical skills together and be motivated by the shared goal of the final Winter School performance at Iwaki Auditorium.

AMEB Level – Approximately Grade 1-3

Ryan Parks is a conductor and music educator in the Melbourne area. He moved to Melbourne in 2017 from the United States where he attended the University of Delaware and received a Bachelor of Music Education. Ryan has a passion for ensemble based music education, with a focus in wind bands. He strives to create experiences that are both musically and emotionally developing for students, using the diverse and living repertoire of the band world.
He currently teaches at Our Lady of Sion College where he acts as Director of Bands and teaches classroom music. Outside of his secondary teaching, Ryan is the musical director of the Southern Area Wind Band and the University of Melbourne’s Engineering Music Society Symphonic Winds. Ryan is currently a committee member of the Victoria chapter of the Australian Band and Orchestra Directors Association (ABODA).
