Rogers String Orchestra

The Rogers String Orchestra is the ideal string ensemble for beginner musicians who have yet to start their ensemble music journey. Under the guidance of conductor Sonia Rogers, you will be supported throughout the week in the cultivation of their instrumental and ensemble playing with a team of dedicated tutors. And most importantly, it is a fantastic avenue to making new friends this Summer.

Beginning her musical career studying violin performance at the Victorian College of the Arts where she graduated with a Diploma of Arts in Music, Sonia then continued her studies at The University of Melbourne completing a Bachelor of Education (Music) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education Administration.
Sonia is an AMEB Violin / Viola examiner and has adjudicated at the Boroondarah Eisteddfod and Victorian Schools Music Festival, and has been a conductor and tutor at several State Music Camps and Melbourne Youth Music Summer Camps.
Having always held a strong interest and enthusiasm for educating young musicians and students, Sonia has enjoyed leadership positions as Head of Strings at Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School and Head of Strings at St Kevin’s College, Toorak.
Sonia is the founding conductor of the Junior Strings of Banyule, where she has continued this role since its inception in 1995, and she is currently a full-time violin and viola teacher at Scotch College.
