Martin Symphonic Band

Conductor Ingrid Martin will guide the Winter School Martin Symphonic Band through a week of collaborative music-making. This will be an opportunity to focus on music written specifically for symphonic band, develop critical ensemble skills, teamwork, communication and creativity, and improve sight-reading through a series of rehearsals and workshops.

Thanks to the support of Melbourne’s best band tutors and music educators, participants will sit alongside musicians of a similar standard, develop rhythmic and technical skills together and be motivated by the shared goal of the final Winter School performance at Iwaki Auditoirum.

Ingrid Martin’s work as a conductor, clinician and curator is united by her vision to
transform lives through the emotive power of music. In demand internationally as a
clinician, guest conductor and lecturer, she is renowned for her ability to lead ensembles to deeper, meaningful musical performances.
As Artistic Director of the Crosswinds Ensemble, she leads innovative performances that fuse
music with other art forms and explore unexpected collaborations.
Ingrid is the founder of ConductingArtistry.com, an online learning platform for
conductors featuring online courses, resources and a podcast.
2023 sees Ingrid make her debut with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, return to the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and lead the University of Melbourne Concert Band.
Ingrid began her MYO journey as a 14 year old horn player at a Summer School, going on to play in the Saturday ensemble program for 8 years. In the years since she has conducted many MYO ensembles and is delighted to return to the 2023 Winter School.
