Melbourne Youth Junior Strings is a place where life-long friends are made and an enduring love of music begins. You will be supported by our team of expert tutors every week in a learning environment that builds on individual lessons and encourages progress based on individual ability.
In Melbourne Youth Junior Strings, you will be able to build your confidence, perform in professionally-staged concerts and take your first steps on the pathway to success through our Ensemble Program.
MELBOURNE YOUTH JUNIOR STRINGS
Approximate standard: AMEB Grade 2 – 3 or equivalent
Approximate age range: 8 – 12
Rehearsals: Saturday 9:00am – 12:00pm
Instruments: Violin, viola, cello, double bass.

KIERAN CASEY – Conductor
Kieran Casey has been conducting Melbourne Youth Junior Strings since it was created in 2009, bringing over 20 years of experience as a performer and music educator. Melbourne Youth Junior Strings has since flourished from a small group of about twenty members, into an ensemble with more than sixty regular members. Kieran is currently Head of Music at Kostka Hall, Xavier College and has been extensively involved in all areas of music training for young people, having taught cello and classroom music at various schools. He is also an experienced orchestral and choral conductor. As an examiner and adjudicator, Kieran has worked with the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) and several eisteddfodau around the greater Melbourne area.
